Message from the Principal and Vice-Principal

This is the most wonderful time of the year! The kids are back at school (as of September 2nd) and we can all settle into our normal routines. We hope that everyone had a safe and relaxing summer. We are all looking forward to a great year.

Everyone has been busy getting the school ready for the first day. Our office and custodial staff have done an excellent job and the school is shiny and clean and ready for the first day of school. Teachers, ECE’s, and EA’s have been busy getting the classrooms ready and they look terrific.

We are very pleased that Heidi Thompson is returning to BVCS as a member of our terrific team of Educational Assistants. Dave Edwards has returned to teach the Grade 6/7 class until Angie Roach’s return in February.

We have three new faces on staff this year. Julie McKenzie will join our staff as an Early Childhood Educator in one of our Junior and Senior Kindergarten classrooms. Melissa Fisher and Bryan Jongkind will join our team of Educational Assistants.

To help parents know what is happening at BVCS, school newsletters come home at the beginning of each month. Newsletters (and other information) will be posted on the school website.

The Bluewater District School Board’s Elementary School Year Calendar is attached to the newsletter and is posted on the school website.

We welcome volunteers and have included information in the September newsletter about how you can become one of our learning volunteers.

The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 2nd. We would refer parents to the School News section of the website for First Day Procedures.

Trustee Newsletters for 2014/15 are available on the home page of the BWDSB website or by following the link below to the special page we have set up. Please feel free to link to or open and save as a PDF the newsletter relevant to your school.

We encourage you to call us if you have any concerns or questions. We can be reached at 519-599-5991 between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM, or you can leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We can be contacted by e-mail at

Shelby and Andy

Our next CAC meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 14th at 7:00 PM in the BVCS Library. All parents are welcome to attend. The agenda for the September meeting will be posted to the CAC page in early October. You can view the minutes of our meetings on the CAC (School Community Council) page on this website - see the left side of this page.
